In winter,there is a large difference in between the indoor and outdoor temperatures of a building.During that time of the year,infiltration occurs due to the stack effect,and this has an impact on the heating loads.One of main problem associated with the stack effect is that the lobby of a building is subject to excessive infiltration,which makes it difficult to maintain the desired levels of heating in the building.This paper discusses the measurements of a pressure difference at the envelopes in an actual building,as well as a calculation of the infiltration rate due to the stack effect.The measurement of the pressure difference was performed in a 65-story high-rise building in Korea,and the infiltration rate was estimated using a network model program in which the measured values of pressure differences at the envelopes were taken into account.The changes in the infiltration rate based on the airtightness of the envelopes were compared,and the energy impact due to the infiltration was analyzed.
