In the present paper,a rational computing method was proposed to evaluate the total mass charge into an ORC.The method primarily takes into account the evaporator and condenser because their internal volume accounts for most of the system.The calculated results indicate that the mass charge in the evaporator is more than that in the condenser,and the FFhex of the evaporator is considerable larger than that of the condenser.It hints a tube-shell condenser in an ORC can also partly replace the liquid storage tanks.Based on the calculated result,25kg of R123 was added into the condenser of the ORC.The experimental results show that the output electric power was about 2.8kW during tests.The output power and key operating parameters met the design requirement of the ORC.The result also prompts that the calculating method about the total mass charge of an ORC was reasonable and reliable.
