A variational inequality index for condensing maps in Hilbert spaces

A variational inequality index for condensing maps in Hilbert spaces is established by employing the fixed point index for condensing maps defined on cones. Such a variational inequality index has many properties similar to those of fixed point theory for condensing self-maps.
