In this Keynote Lecture, efficient parallel algorithms are presentedon high-performance supercomputers for solution of severla fundamental problems: a) complex eigenvalue problem, b) Riccati equation, and c) simultaneous optimization of control and structural systems. The emphasis is on the solution of large-scale problems. Efficiency of the algorithms is evaluated in terms of millions of floating point operations per second (MELOPS) and the vectorization and parallel processing speedup. The details of the parallel algorithms are presented in several recent journaly articles and a book by the authors. Copyright ~direct 2000 IFAC
