A newly-developed fatigue-testing machine for small bushes has been developed in accordance with ISO/DP7905/4, which can be used to test the fatigue strength of the bushes coated with bearing metal. The formulae of evaluating the normal stresses and displacements in two-material curved beams, in this paper, are established to determine the relationship among testing load, radial deformation of guage dia and normal stress for the bushes. An experimental set-up for the bush stress and deformation measurements is especially designed to achieve the anticipated loading conditions. A numerical example involving a bush consisting of two materials is used to demonstrate the capability of the model for predicting normal stresses and radial displacements. Being checked with the FEM analysis and electrical method measured shows that theoretical formulae fully meet the precision prescribed.
