Comparative Study on Web-based Systems Design Methodologies: History and Category *

摘要

There are emerging many new design methodologies for Web-based information systems under the new challenges brought by the Internet and e-business. This paper, first, indicates the characteristics of web-based information systems design brought by these challenges, both from business aspect and from the increasing information technology aspect. Secondly, it briefly introduces the history of the web-based systems design methodologies. Thirdly, it focuses on several popular methodologies. Finally, it compares these design methodologies from several aspects: key-modeling technique, driven model, source of navigation, design phases and documentation, semantic richness, and reuse support. The purpose of the paper is to suggest the whole functions or abilities which a good design methodology for web information systems should have.
