In this paper electrode potential titration was used to determine the content of hexahydro-1,3,4-trinitro-s-triazine(RDX) and hexahydro-1,3,5,7-tetronitro-s-terazine(HMX) in non-aqueous solvent. Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) was used as solvent. Due to their weak acid properties in non-aqueous solvent, NaOCH3 was chosen as titrant. Both solvent and titrant were optimized in the experiment. The endpoint was ascertained by electrode potential titration curve. The following data was obtained: RDX 99.58 ~ 99.7%; HMX 99.48 ~99.88%. This method is facile and dependable.
