摘要

Tea moth (Euproctis pseudoconspersa strand) is one of main pest insects which cause damage to the plant tea. The insect has been reported from China, India and Japan. In China, it is widely distributed in many Provinces in the South-Central part including Hubei, Fujian, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Anhui. Euproctis pseudoconspera Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (EpNPV) is a pathogen that often causes fatal diseases in tea moth. In 1957, EpNPV was first reported by Japanes scholar Aizawa keio. The virus is host specific for tea moth and can cause epizootic in nature which appear to play a role in controlling tea moth population. This virus is, therefore, attrcative biological control agent and offers and alternative towide-spectrum chemical insecticides. In China, the EpNPV was later developed as an insecticide to treat infested tea and has been successfully used in Hubei, Fujian, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Anhui province.
