The management of the ground segment components ofrna complex operations centre like ESOC presents severalrnchallenges, from the highest requirements in terms ofrnavailability to maintainability and performance. Exploiting the commonality ofrnrequirements across missions, infrastructure softwarernwas developed to cover the majority of the requiredrnfuncti functionality for the Mission Control System (MCS)rnonality and the Simulator (SIM).rnIn addition, similarity between missions in the samern"family" led to particular extreme cases of reuse, were arnsingle software could be used with no changes for morernthan one mission. T This paper will present the case of thernhis Interplanetary Missions Family (Rosetta, Mars Expressrnand Venus Express), giving a practical example of thernsavings that were obtained by the common approach inrnthe development of their dedicated Mission DatarnSystems (MDS).
