摘要

It has been indicated in recent literatures that leading the global competition could hardly be achieved by offering high-quality physical products alone. A significant tendency shows an increasing demand of integrated product. A concept of functional product including physical asset (hardware), software and services together is proposed. A function-centre concept design framework is envisaged as a means to integrate the design of hardware, software and services together. During concept design phrase, the three components are developed with high degree of integration before the potential solutions are sought. Presented along a series of decisions taken is risk. An attempt made here is to formalise consideration of risk in decision-making process during the concept design of the functional product.
