Introduction Pt/C is known as one of the best candidates for selective hydrogenation of o-chloronitrobenzene (o-CNB) to o-chloroaniline (o-CAN). However, in order to maximize the use of noble metal catalysts, to further increase the activity and selectivity remains a challenge. Herein we report the preparation of a highly dispersed Pt/Ni(C) catalyst that can be easily separated and reused after the reaction. The catalyst is shown to have high selectivity for the hydrogenation of o-CNB to o-CAN.
