ERIG which is short for ExperimentalRaumfahrt-lnteressenGemeinschaft e.V. is a student led non-profit association for public benefit. It works concentrated on the field of space technology development as there currently is satellites, experimental rockets and hybrid engines. Main projects are BEOSAT, MEPHISTO and HYDRA. BEOSAT which is short for Braunschweig's EarthObservation-SATellite is a micro-satellite platform for earth observation purposes. The mission is to observe air pollution mainly over Europe or other regions of interests and is also able to monitor natural disasters as vulcano eruptions as well. Moreover the satellite is added with a second sensor in order to observe the space debris and micro-meteoroid flux on its orbit. The three-axis stabilised cubic shaped satellite with an edge to edge length of 40 cm only weighs 35 kg. Particular for this project is that it was initiated by students and fully is under control by the students. Besides BEOSAT development ERIG constructs its own experimental rockets (MEPHISTO & GRETCHENX) for scientific use as well as hybrid rocket engines (HYDRA). Longterm goal for rocket development department is to build a two-staged hybrid-propelled rocket for altitudes of about 10 km. With public relation department ERIG represents itself as student space organisation for technical research and on the field of space technology development. Within next years satellite component development will be established within BEOSAT development as well.
