Multiple Simulation of Spatial Fields

Multiple simulations from a probability model are used to convey uncertainty about spatial patterns. The challenge is to sample efficiently from the model so that a relatively small number of simulated patterns can be used to describe this uncertainty. Principles and procedures are presented for controlling and sequencing spatial simulations to address the challenge. For example, one can define descriptive measures of spatial pattern, select percentile values of these descriptive measures under the model, and then simulate the pattern conditionally. A two-stage simulation procedure leads to more effective implementation.
