This paper deals with the remodeling of balconies by applying the concept of double-skin fa9ades so as to allow natural ventilation and improve energy-saving performance in domestic high-rise residential buildings. Through the analysis of previous research and case studies, a design process for the double-skin fa?ade is established and the various related factors and simulation cases are identified, after which the design process is applied to a real building as an example. The design process for high-rise buildings is established, taking into account the various design parameters to apply the conventional double-skin facade process to high-rise residential buildings. And the design elements for an example high-rise building are considered, and the glass combination, glass type, blind position, aperture sizes, and aperture opening type are determined, with analysis of the stack effect and operation modes.
