A BRIEF STUDY OF THE PROSPECTS OF APPLICATION OF THE AIR CUSHION BELT CONVEYER IN COAL HANDLING SYSTEM

The research and development of air cushion belt conveyer is 20-odd years old in our country. It is chiefly used in the industries like cereals, chemicals, building materials, iron and steel, power, port, etc. However, it has met difficulties when used in the coal handling system in thermal power plants and coal mining. The cause is that air cushion belt conveyers of the first generation have some defects, which hinder the normal operation. To overcome those problems profound researches on design theory, design method, air tank structure, sectional shape, arrangement of throttling orifices, matching air source, air supply devices, etc. have been conducted, thus air cushion belt conveyers of the second generation have been successfully developed, laying down a solid foundation for their application in the coal handling system, and the fresh experience accumulated will promote their more extensive application in the future.
