There are a large number of crosses and T-junctions in residential quarters, schools, factories, etc. However, many pedestrians pass through these intersections with attention distracted, and vision blocks caused by buildings and plants often make it hard for drivers to notice the pedestrians in time, leading to traffic accidents and tragedies. If there had been warning devices which can evoke pedestrians' notices effectively at these intersections, many traffic accidents could have been avoided. Unfortunately, the warning devices currently in use are usually just static warning signs whose effects in evoking pedestrians' notices are weak. This paper explores the feasibility of sound-light coordinate technologies on traffic warning based on human factors engineering. An experiment is designed and carried out to show that using sound and light can catch pedestrians' attention effectively. Then the paper takes the T-junctions as an example, in which a sound-light alarm system is designed based on the redundancy gain principle, perceptual bias effect, and stimulus-response compatibility effect and so on.
