The profitable effect of some carbon fibres as fillers in a conventional gray Portland cement is evaluated behalf measurements of the flexure strength and the electrical. Resistivity, using different carbonaceous additives to be compared. The studied carbonaceous addles are fibres type ex-PAN and ex-Pitch besides carbon chips obtained from diverse gaseous hydrocarbons. Among chips, there are carbon fibrils or nanotubes and microspherules too. The significance of the influence of these additives depends on their surface conditioning mainly. It seems reasonable to assume that the favourable effect that is observed, is due to the fact that the short fibres remain trapped in the pores and interstices of the final cement. So, the mixing and kneading of the cement paste should be carefully performed. A remarkable improvement of the cements is obtained with no larger carbon fibre content than 2%.
