摘要

This paper provides an overview of a comprehensive ten-years research project intornthe effects of dynamic natural and artificial weathering on tensile/adhesion joints. Thernmain aim of the project is to develop an improved test methodology for assessing thernlong-term performance of elastomeric building sealants to different climatic andrnservice conditions. A major focus of the project is the investigation of effects of cyclicrnjoint movement on sealed test joints when carried out simultaneously with orrnseparately from periods of artificial and natural weathering. To this end, standard ISOrn8339 test specimens with concrete supports are being exposed with and withoutrnsimultaneous or separate movement to various ageing regimes. The main intention ofrnthe paper is to convey the overall objectives and background of the study and tornprovide information on the weathering and cyclic movement regimes employed. Thernpaper also provides the results that have been obtained after ten years naturalrnweathering in Leipzig.
