Spreading and Penetration of Aqueous Solutions and Water-borne Inks in Contact with Paper and Model Substrates

摘要

The spreading of water-borne inks on paper has been studied, with an emphasis on inkjet printing applications. Experimental results for several paper/ink systems, as well as for some model systems, are reported. The role of different factors such as surface tension, surface roughness, and drop lifetime for the spreading behaviour is discussed in the light of existing theoretical models.
