The arrival time controllability of tailoredrnarrival (TA) paths and its optimization arerndiscussed. A TA path is designed using the leastrnnumber of track-to-fix and the radius-to-fix legsrnneglecting the engine thrust. They arernnumerically analyzed so as to satisfy a set ofrnappropriate boundary conditions both at the toprnof descent (TOD) and landing consideringrnpractical aircraft conditions, such as flaprnsettings and flight envelope. The arrival timerncontrollability is defined as the differencesrnbetween the fastest and the slowest arrival time.rnThrough several series of the arrival timernanalyses, it is found that the TA pathsrndetermined by changing the way-point positionsrncan achieve the larger arrival timerncontrollability than those determined byrnchanging the TOD position. The feasibility ofrnthe TA path optimization from the viewpoint ofrnthe traffic controllability is also presented. It isrnshown to be possible to compose an arrival pathrnwith the maximum arrival time controllabilityrnwithout any additional fuel consumption.
