Refrigeration and A/C systems consume approx. 14% of Germany’s total power consumption and 70% to 90%rnof it by the compressors.rnImprovements of the energy efficiency, seasonal energy efficiency, and reduction in emissions of greenhouserngases are the driving forces for further and new developments on compressors and system components.rnAlthough compressors and all system components of the today’s generation are already very advanced therernare still potentials for improvements.rnAn optimization package including advanced compressors, intelligent capacity control, intelligent systemrncontrols and the use of low GWP refrigerants lead to a significant reduction of energy consumption andrngreenhouse gas emissions (TEWI).rnIn this paper several potentials are highlighted and compared.
