The Kashagan Development requires many offshore platforms. This paper reviews the types of platforms in use and being designed for the Kashagan development. Ice loading scenarios are reviewed and the corresponding ice interaction models are described. Examples of deterministic methods and ice loads are given but noting the benefits of advancing the methods to include probabilistic approaches, which are described in an accompanying paper in this conference.
