The picture quality achievable with conventional sewer TV inspection is determined by the technicalrnlimitations of the inspection systems used as well as by the care taken by the operational personnel. Byrnusing digital camera electronics in conjunction with flash illumination in the PANORAMO inspection unit andrnpicture processing techniques, the full optical information content of the inspected sewer line now can bernanalysed on a PC afterward. Continuous movement through the pipe can be carried out virtually, and at thernsame time, - as with conventional TV inspection systems – as many pan and tilt movements of the angle ofrnview as required can be carried out and shown in perspective. Additionally, a 2-dimensional scan of thernsurface of the pipe allows a general view of the whole line inspected. PANORAMO gathers opticalrninformation of some thousand meters of pipe line per day.
