Economic and technical aspects of No-Dig development in Ukraine

It has been acknowledged worldwide that No-Dig technologies present an advanced technical solutionrncombined with high socio-economic efficiency. The present paper is devoted to consideration of the possiblernways and preconditions for introduction and development of No-Dig technologies in Ukraine considering itsrnstatus as the “economy in transition”.rnThe paper elaborates on the notion of “extent of readiness” of the country to adopt and develop the No-Digrnmethods at two major levels:rn1. Level of Regulation (level of national, local legislation and regulation procedures)rn2. Level of Execution (company level – internal technical, economic, financial preconditions)rnSeen from the point of view of the Ukrainian Water Utility with consideration to the above mentionedrndevelopment aspects No-Dig methods have its weak and strong points comparing to traditional methods.rnBasing on the above findings the paper will elaborate on the current status of the No-Dig implementation inrnUkraine at the “Introductory Stage” supported by the examples of implementing the No-Dig initiatives up torndate; and also future development perspectives with consideration to:rn1. No-Dig in the context of the overall economic policyrn2. Technology life cycle at the marketrn3. Methods of adaptation of the No-Dig technologies to the market conditions of Ukraine.
