Berlin is a city of rivers and lakes and the water table is high.The charateristic soil consists mostly of fluvialrnsand. Strong infiltration of groundwater and fine running sand can cause serious problems for the sewerrnsystem and the stability of streets. Cavities created in the bedding near the defects might lead to majorrnsubsidence, and make the bedding structures statically weak. The Sanipor~? floodgrouting sewerrnrehabilitation system offered an advantageous technological solution to match the problem of infiltration withrnand without subsequent insertion of cured-in place liner pipes.
