Digital satellite audio broadcasting technology develped by a joint Voice of America (VOA), Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) project has been recently applied to a system for digital audio broadcasting in the short wave bands. A receiver has been designed, built, and tested in the field. This paper presents an overview of the VOA/JPL HF Digital System development to date.
