The direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol with hydrogen and oxygen gases as co-reactants in the Pd membrane reactor has been received increasing attention because the technique is not only green and econimical, but also eliminates the risks of explosion. However, the yield of phenol and the utilization efficiency of raw materials have been limited within a several percent.
