In this study we:rn1. Characterized flame acceleration and studied the influence of arnfinger-flame shape on the burning rate. 2. Studied the effects of compressibility in 2-D channels. 3. Extended this view to examine mining scenarios with coal dust. 4. Studied the effects of different particle parameters while using arnmethod that incorporated compressibility.rnIt is found that:rn1. Compressibility effects are important for near-stoichiometric gas mixturesrn2. Compressibility effects do matter when dust is incorporatedrninto the mixture. 3. In all cases, compressibility moderated flame acceleration.
