Historical data were used to predict students' performance accurately but not in time to provide remedial solutions to prevent students from failing. Using heart rate of students collected via wireless wearable sensors to measure engagement would enable real time data to make prediction at a very early stage of an academic period. This study attempts to prove that there is a distinction between heart rate of students during rest and during active learning. The data collected and analyzed proved so. Further, there are distinctions in the pattern of heart rate within an-hour class lecture between students who passed and those who failed. The data has the potential to inform the teachers which part of the lecture a student isn't engaged in order to provide remedial solution.
