A new structure for generating linearly polarized unidirectional radiation pattern in the boresight direction is presented. The proposed antenna is engineered by exciting a torus knot using circular disc loaded monopole. Characteristic mode analysis is carried out to understand the radiation properties of the torus knot. In order to verify the proposed design, the antenna is fabricated using additive manufacturing technology and its performance is measured. A good agreement between the simulated and measured result is observed. The input impedance bandwidth (-10 dB) is about 5%. The maximum gain of the antenna is 8.76 dBi at 2.44 GHz.
