An effect of different and similar stimuli on brain activity for drug abuse detection

Every experience is recorded in the brain memory. In order to extract those recorded memory, a scheme of stimuli is needed. Many affective stimuli have been tried and applied to stimulate the brain activities for many applications. In this paper, a comparison of two scheme stimuli related to drug abuse detection is proposed. The schemes are five similar pictures (related with cocaine) and five different pictures which one of them is a picture of marijuana. Both of the schemes were randomly flashed in front of thirty subjects (i.e., consist of three group: Addictive, rehabilitation, and control). To investigate which scheme is more effective to stimulate the brain activities related to the drug abuse, the P300 potential and its latency are evaluated. The higher average amplitudes and shorter latencies are obtained from the similar stimuli scheme.
