In order to investigate the problem of dynamic wave scattering in ultrasonic testing, a three dimensional model characterized by velocity-pressure staggered grids has been set up. For the model, the finite difference form in the time domain of the governing equations for acoustic wave propagating in fluid medium has been derived. The perfectly matched layer (PML) is used for the model as an external truncated boundary of the computing area to absorb the incident waves. The interaction of an acoustic wave with a cylindrical object is simulated dynamically in full space. Numerical results show the stability and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
