The article considers one variant for solving problem of development high-efficiency power converters for hybrid and electric vehicles, wind turbines and micro hydroelectric power stations. The results of designing high-efficiency power converters with power electronic converters and Squirrel-Cage Induction Generators (SCIGs), which have compact front parts due to specific winding, are given. These results include modeling processes in these converters and shows reducing electric losses and materials intensity of the new SCIGs. The theoretical justifications of the offered calculation method for these electric machines are considered. This method takes into account a non-uniform distribution of current density in the winding's conductors. The comparison results of the SCIGs are considered. Sample tests in the composition of micro hydroelectric power stations are reported.
