Partitioned stator (PS) switched flux (SF) permanent magnet (PM) (SFPM) (PS-SFPM) machine is a novel SFPM machine in which the PMs and armature windings are separately arranged in two different stators . It exhibits higher torque density than the conventional SFPM machine with single stator due to the higher utilization of inner space. The PS-SFPM machine has combined synergies of magnetic gear and SFPM machine . Its operation principle is similar to magnetically-geared machine . Electromagnetic (EM) performance of the 12-stator-pole PS-SFPM machines having 10-, 11-, 13- and 14-rotor-pole are compared in [1] . However, they are not globally optimized since they share the same partitioned stator . In this paper, EM performance of these 4 machines are comprehensively compared in detail based on the globally optimized designs for each of the stator and rotor pole number combination for the highest average EM torques . The global optimization is conducted under the rated copper loss p=20W and brushless AC operation with zero d-axis current control .
