Textile industries generate lot of recalcitrant chemicals in the form of dyes. Dyeing stage is a critical stage in the context of industrial pollution control. The recalcitrant chemicals cannot be degraded by primary and secondary treatment . So the ultimate need of tertiary treatment process such as ozonation or other advanced oxidation process. Advanced oxidation process has opened up a new area of innovation in environmental engineering and environmental science. Many industrial processes utilize organic compounds as a key chemical to synthesize key special compounds. Processes such as chlorination, ozonation, uv radiation, electrochemical treatments and processes based on OH' radical attacks have been investigated looking for the effectiveness and efficiency of the process. Our review will target towards ozonation or advanced oxidation processes of textile effluent dyes in a bubble column reactor. Bubble column reactors are an important and visionary tool in enhancing the performance of advanced oxidation processes. Till recently its extraordinary potential is exploited in a far reaching manner in treating dye effluents from textile industries. Our review expands this field of innovation. These reactors have several pros and cons such as high heat and mass transfer rates, low operating and maintenance costs. So it has immense potential. It will open a new era in the domain of environmental engineering and textile engineering/dye chemistry.
