The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between Sleep, lifestyle and academic performance in high school students and to examine the effects of sleep education by using cognitive behavioural method. Results of the higher rank school showed that students with higher grades of academic performance of English and mathematics reported more total sleep, earlier bed times on school nights. In Study 2 we examined the effects of sleep education using a short-term cognitive-behavioural method (self-checking for target-behaviour and maintaining a sleep diary for 2 weeks), a form of self-help treatment. After the sleep education using the self-help treatment, the students' satisfaction regarding sleep significantly improved. Furthermore, feelings of wakening, concentration, and morning appetite improved. The results suggested that lifestyles, such as exercise, regular sleep habits, regular eating habits, bedroom circumstance, nodding during the evening, and relaxation before bedtimes, are all important targets for an improvement of the quality of sleep, arousal levels of daytime, concentration, and motivation during school classes.
