MODIFIED CONTACT GROUTING-A NEW APPROACH TO GROUTING TUNNELS

Traditional contact grouting is designed to fill the void between the concrete linerrnand the rockmass. When groundwater infiltration is an issue, a secondary, consolidationrngrouting program is often implemented. Scheduling and cost concerns have led torna new approach to grouting tunnels in the Atlanta area that combines traditional contactrngrouting with secondary consolidation grouting. The development of this approach,rntermed “modified contact grouting” is described in this paper.
