摘要

Phases I through IV of Charleston Water System’s six phase Wastewater TunnelrnMaster Plan included 10 miles of tunnels to replace the heavily deteriorated and impairedrnnetwork of existing sewer tunnels in historic downtown Charleston. Implementation ofrnlessons learned during design and construction of the first four phases were essentialrnto successful design of the following phase: Phase V-West Ashley Sewer Tunnel andrnInfluent Pump Station. This project consists of 9,500 linear feet of sewer tunnel 120 feetrnbelow ground, a 75 mgd deep underground pump station 60 feet in diameter, and anrninterconnecting tunnel system to two existing deep pump station wet-wells.
