Effect of CaCO3, ZnSO4 and FeCl3 on growth of Bifidobacterium Bifidum BB01 and BB03 was studied by measuring optical density at 600nm (OD600) and pH using de Man, Rogosa and sharpe (MRS) broth as the control. The addition of each substance was 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10g/L. Results were as follows: Addition of CaCO3 has the significant promotion on growth of Bifidobacterium Bifidum BB01 and BB03. The optimum concentration of CaCO3 in MRS broth was O.lOg/L for the two strains. Addition of ZnSO4 or FeCl3 all have significant inhibition on growth of Bifidobacterium Bifidum BB01 and BB03.
