To deal with the big deformation and instability of gateways in deep mines, a new high pretension yieldable bolt and anchor support system is developed. The yieldable hoop and "roost" is the key component to release high stress and deformation. Then the combined support technique of bolt-net-beltanchor is designed according to the geological condition. A new cross section with a half-arch and half-rectangle is also brought forward. Finally the combined support technique is applied on one head entry in Suncun Coal Mine in China, and the entry is stable during gateway excavation and coal extraction process.
