A New Scheduling MAC Scheme for Ad Hoc Networks

In ad hoc networks, the throughput of the network depends largely upon the performance of the medium access control (MAC) algorithm. Many transmission scheduling algorithms have been proposed to maximize the throughput. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling scheme under which the system throughput is much increased. The new scheme allows a node utilize the slots preassigned to other nodes under a range of values for accessing probability. We compare the new MAC scheme with the other scheduling schemes propose by Ju and Oikonnmou, and results show that it gives better performance in terms of system throughput. At the same time, our proposed scheme is simple and feasible.
