Escalating development costs and increasing deepwaterrnactivity emphasize the need for reducing well completionrncosts dramatically. The evolution of single trip systems in thernGulf of Mexico Shelf provides proven technology to completernmarginal properties in deepwater.rnWorkstring trips on deepwater completions are the single mostrnexpensive operation; therefore minimizing trips canrnsignificantly reduce operational costs. Today, wells are beingrndrilled deeper and therefore the impact of reducing the numberrnof trips is significant. Single trip systems executedrnsuccessfully in today's deeper environments can offerrnconsiderable savings. Realized project savings depends on therntype infrastructure in place, I.e. Semi-Submersible, Drillship,rnSpar, TLP. Single Trip systems offer a viable option to reducerncosts, however candidate selection and additional engineeringrnconsiderations are associated with these systems.rnThe progression of single trip systems to multi zonerncompletions systems is examined along with the inherentrnadvantages they present. Based on the completion architecturernand rig infrastructure in place tangible savings in excess ofrnhalf a million dollars can be realized. Installation of singlerntrip systems, a deepwater completion performed from a drillrnship, and the cost analysis for the feasibility of this applicationrnis presented.
