Sintered metal filter elements have been used for years and have been successfully inrnoperation in different applications. The technical and economical advantages of only recentlyrndeveloped asymmetric Metallic Membranes elements, which operate as a surface filter, willrnbe shown in comparison with standard sintered metal filter cartridges. Permeability, particlernretention and back flushing performance have been improved. In order to achieve this, anrnasymmetric structure was designed in which an active filtration layer is applied onto a coarsernporous metal support material made out of the same alloy. The economical benefits forrncustomers are low maintenance and reduced investment cost as well as defined particlernretention as is required by the users.
