Electrode Shapes for Electrowetting Arrays

We calculate the potential energy of a fluidic circuit elec-trowetting array for different shapes and sizes of interdigi-tal structures at the pad edges and compare the results to an analytical model. Understanding the dynamic effects at the beginning of the droplet motion is crucial for the optimization of electrode structures with respect to fast switching and tolerance against droplet volume variations.
