MODELLING IMMEDIATE CURL IN PAPERBOARD

A mathematical model is described with which it is possible to calculate the immediate curl response of narrow strips at different stages of the drying process. Input data to the model are drying stress, elastic modulus and thicknesses of the respective plies. With the model it has also been possible to simulate how different compositions of the respective plies influenced the immediate curl, together with the influence of drying history. The results indicate that the elastic strains in the respective plies drive the immediate curl.
