Adsorption characteristics of water vapor and select organic vapors on single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) samples at 25℃ werernexperimentally measured. Results indicated that adsorption of water and organic vapors follows Type V and Type I adsorption isotherms,rnrespectively. At low gas phase concentrations of organics (< 50 ppmv), the adsorption capacities of SWNTs were equivalent or higherrnthan those of commercially available activated carbons; however, their maximum adsorption capacities were only a fraction of those ofrnactivated carbons. Data fitting to widely used adsorption isotherm models did not produce satisfactory results, which indicates a need tornstudy the first principles of adsorption for SWNTs.
