Distributed computing environments present both opportunities and challenges for those seeking to employ simulation methodologies. Fortunately, distributed resource management (DRM) technologies have reached a level of maturity that allows them to simplify the complexity of these environments, and to become an integral component of the simulation methodology. Through real-world examples drawn from electronic design automation, industrial manufacturing, the life sciences and petroleum exploration, use of Platform Computing's Load Sharing Facility (LSF) illustrates the economy and utility of incorporating DRM technologies directly into the simulation methodology.
