Estimation of TTS due to amusement sounds by using TTS meter

In this paper, acoustical characteristics of some amusement sounds and estimated TTS (temporary threshold shift) after exposure to those sounds are reported. The following twenty samples of amusement sounds were recorded and analyzed; game arcades (4), pachinko parlors (2), bowling alleys (3), karaoke saloons (2), speedboat-racing pools (2), football stadiums (2) and baseball stadiums (5). According to the results of TTS estimation, some sounds could produce so large TTS that those hearing-effects should not be ignored. Especially, sounds recorded at one of pachinko parlors and two of baseball stadiums could produce larger than 20 dB of TTS at the test frequency of 4 kHz.
