摘要

Minesite rehabilitafion needs to be monitored with easiIy measured, representative and accurate indicators so that trends are assessed over time and closure criteria ale addressed according to existing legislation. Our aim was a)to identify,evaluate and interpret established traditional vegetation and soil indicators used in woodlands,forests and other revegetated areas,landscape indicators (integrity of rip-line and nutrient cycle indices),as well as other innovative indicators for sustainable minesite rehabilitation including those deriving through satellite image analysis and remote sensing,b)to investigate highly innovative,cost effective and competitive technologies for indicator information acquisition, including several kind of sensors,wireless sensors network,Earth Observation(EO) and Geographic Information Systems(GIS),c)to design and develop a platform for formulating indicators to describe biophysical,sociocultural and economic processes for minesite rehabilitation.
