Ever since NASA/JPL discovered the possibility that a single, very small particle (contamination) if present in their "cleanrooms", could come to rest on a very small valve seat and possibly inhibit a precise valve closure, the use of cleanroom packaging has proliferated. The cleanrooms of the '90's and into the next millennium are used for the manufacture of a wide variety of products from medical devices to semiconductor wafers, MR head (disk drive) assemblies and populated PC boards.rnContamination issues are not limited to particles, but include processing additives to packaging films and chemical compatibility. There is no one answer to the often heard question - "what film should be used?" and "how clean should it be".
